Mark Seliger is an editorial photographer who was born in Amarillo, Texas and raised in Houston. He currently lives and works in New York City, and is under contract with Conde Nast Publications, photographing for Vanity Fair and GQ.

Seliger was the Chief Photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine from 1992-2002, for which he shot nearly 200 covers. Other current editorial clients include: Interview, British Vogue, Citizen K and Vogue Hommes.

Some of his commercial clients include Showtime, Roca Wear, Sony, Capitol Records, Elizabeth Arden, Diesel and Tommy Hilfiger.

His nonprofit work includes the “Vote or Die” Campaign, the AIDS organizations, Keep A Child Alive and Amfar and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s.

He has published the following books: In My Stairwell (Rizzoli, 2005), Lenny Kravitz/Mark Seliger (2001) , Physignomy (1999) and When They Came to Take My Father - Voices of the Holocaust (1996). His work has appeared in numerous other books including: Crazy Sexy Cool (1996), Brad Pitt (1997), Images of Rock-N-Roll (1995) and Rolling Stone the Complete Covers 1967-1997 (1995).

In addition, Seliger has directed two documentaries, one on Lenny Kravitz and one on Gillian Welch and in 2002, his video for Willie Nelson featuring LeAnn Womack won Country Video of the Year.

Recent Awards include:
The Society of Publication Designers, 2004. Gold Medal Award of Excellence.
The Society of Publication Designers, 2004. Silver Medal Award of Distinctive Achievement.
The Society of Publication Designers, 2002. Gold Medal Award for the “The Sopranos,” Rolling Stone.
The Society of Publication Designers, 2001. Gold Medal Award for “Drew Barrymore.” The Alfred Eisenstaedt Award, 1999. Best Single Image for Ben Stiller, Rolling Stone.
